WHO ARE WE?

The founders of the Kozak Drive Charitable Foundation are members of the Ukrainian Masters Ski Team.

Since 2022, we have been serving as volunteers and members of the military.

Our work began in February 2022 with fundraising among our community to purchase 300 body armor sets and helmets for frontline units. We also coordinated fundraising for emergency responders of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv and provided financial and logistical support to skiers from Mariupol, Bucha, and Irpin.

Cooperation with the European skiing community in the spring of 2022 enabled us to raise approximately EUR 140,000 for drones, thermal imaging devices, generators, and medicines for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, we became actively involved in helping Ukrainian refugees. We evacuated people from occupied cities and helped them find accommodation abroad. In the spring of 2022 alone, we assisted in placing 3,000 refugees in Bulgaria. We have continued to support the Ukrainian military through fundraising campaigns on various media platforms and through events initiated by our team. We also cooperate with the international skiing community to advocate for sanctions against Russian athletes and to defend the interests of the Ukrainian sports community. As a result of these efforts, Russian alpine skiers were barred from participating in international competitions, and the work of Russian instructors in Europe was restricted during the first years of the war. We have organized and continue to conduct tactical medicine training for medical professionals, police officers, Territorial Defence Forces, and, today, civilians as well.

What began with emotion and determination has become our systematic, long-term work. With faith in Ukraine and victory.

Over 1,250 UAVs for various purposes were delivered.

We purchased approximately 410 pieces of radio and electronic equipment for the military.

Organized tactical medicine training (TAKMED) for medical personnel, police, and territorial defense forces.

We raised over €140,000 for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in cooperation with European ski communities.

More than 20 online and offline auctions were held, raising over €200,000 during these events.

The Kozak Drive Charitable Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Oleksandr Usyk for his significant contribution to supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “While preparing this project, we read countless accounts of what Mriya meant to the people who created it. Despite its original Soviet purpose and its service to the Soviet aviation industry, it was born on Ukrainian soil and became a Ukrainian dream. It survived the collapse of the Soviet Union and was ultimately destroyed during Ukraine’s struggle for national self-assertion, giving its life for the freedom of Ukraine. For many people, at the moment of its destruction, it became more than a symbol — it felt almost like losing someone close. Someone whose death you want to avenge. Today, Mriya lives on in the dreams of Ukrainians — dreams of victory, of defending ourselves, of living on our own land, and of proudly calling ourselves Ukrainians,” says Tetiana Honcharova, co-author of the “oMRIYana Pomsta” project.

The AN-225 Mriya was the world’s largest aircraft of Ukrainian origin. It was created in 1988 by the Kyiv-based Antonov Design Bureau to meet transportation needs within the Soviet space program. Following the dissolution of the USSR, the mothballed AN-225 was reconstructed in the late 1990s and returned to service for intercontinental transportation of a wide range of cargo. The first flight of the restored Mriya took place on 7 May 2001. Since then, the aircraft set more than 200 world records, operated commercial flights carrying exceptionally large cargo, delivered humanitarian aid to every continent except Antarctica, and, during the COVID-19 pandemic, transported medicines, medical equipment, and protective supplies around the world.

On the morning of 24 February 2022, approximately 30 minutes before the first attempted Russian airborne assault, the Mriya aircraft, which was undergoing scheduled maintenance at Hostomel Airport, was moved into a hangar. That was the last time the legendary aircraft was seen intact. Three days later, on 27 February, after the main fighting for the airport had ended, the devastating news spread around the world that the aircraft had been destroyed. But destroying the world’s largest Ukrainian aircraft could not destroy the Ukrainian dream. Mriya was reborn through “oMRIYana Pomsta.”
